Volunteer With Us!

This summer, West Coast Therapy and Wellness is looking for professionals and students to join us for our annual Selective Mutism and Anxiety Training and Program!

We are looking for professionals interested in being trained in how to treat selective mutism, a childhood anxiety disorder that renders children unable to speak in social settings.

This is a great way to add a specialty to your practice or for grad students to gain evidence-based skills in working with young children with anxiety. There is a lack of providers treating selective mutism, and we hope to disseminate training to widen options for treatment.

What is this training?

This is an incredibly unique training that includes a 1 day didactic in "how to treat kids with selective mutism and types of treatment interventions." This is followed by participation as a counselor in a 5-day intensive outpatient program where you work 1:1 with children with selective mutism. The focus of the IOP involves targeted exposures to support the children in talking across different settings. The IOP will be kept small and have policies in place to protect the health of all participants.

When is the training?

  • 1-day didactic training, Friday July 22nd, 10am - 5pm PST, Via Zoom

  • 5 day intensive, in-vivo coaching and learning in-person, Monday, August 1st - Friday, August 5th

What experience is required?

  • Experienced working with children required,

  • Grad students,

  • Undergraduate students

  • Therapists

  • Educators

How much is this training?

FREE. We provide this training free as it is mutually beneficial for us to have you involved. We are able to run the program and keep a 1:1 ratio, disseminate training and train you in a new and valuable specialty.
